CTEK D250S General Information

The D250S is a new onboard charger that is powered from the alternator and will not only charge leisure batteries, but also condition and extend their life, saving the consumer valuable time and money.

The problems of properly charging and maintaining a leisure battery whilst on the move are well known. With an increasing number of electrical items available that draw from the battery, leisure batteries are notoriously difficult to maintain and are especially prone to sulphation, loss of capacity and ultimately a shortened life span.

Where fitted, many onboard charging systems currently available aren't adequate to maximise the capacity of a leisure battery and cannot condition it, potentially resulting in it underperforming or becoming unrecoverable.

Developed using the unique patented technology available in CTEK's mains powered chargers, the new D250S charger allows CTEK's safe and effective charging technology to be utilised whilst on the move - using either the vehicle alternator or solar as the power source.

The D250S provides a six step charging curve to condition, charge and maintain the leisure battery, increasing performance, extending its life span and saving the user money on unnecessary battery replacement. With around 80% of all battery failures due to sulphation caused by undercharging - a direct result of lack of care and maintenance, the D250S removes lead-sulphate from the plates using its patented desulphation mode before delivering up to 20 amps of controlled charging power.

An important factor when considering onboard charging is total system cost - equipment, cabling and installation. The cost of onboard charging systems can be high as they often require specialist knowledge and heavy gauge cabling - all of which add to the overall expense. However, the D250S is highly affordable with installation being both simple and straightforward with cabling requirements below current industry norms.

Safe and simple to use, the D250S offers an affordable and comprehensive solution to battery charging and protection whilst on the move. With a 2 year warranty the D250S offers a unique and effective option for on board battery care and maintenance.

Examples of usage:

Caravan/Camper

Situation: One battery for all consumers.

Problem: The caravan battery is located a long way from the generator, resulting in considerable voltage drop at the trailer connection. The caravan battery is never fully charged by the generator.

Solution: The D250S gives a perfect charging curve for the caravan battery without discharging the starter battery.

Rescue and work vehicles

Situation: Consumers discharge the starter battery.

Problem: Equipment on board discharges starter batteries, or difficult to charge extra service batteries.

Solution: The D250S senses that the engine has started and charges the service battery quickly and efficiently.

Solar panels

Situation: Solar panel.

Problem: A solar panel operates optimally at about 17V. Many regulators reduce the voltage by "burning off" energy.

Solution: The D250S searches for the optimum operating point (maximum power point) and charges the battery perfectly at high degree of efficiency.

Bow propeller and anchor winch

Situation: Consumers located at a distance and with current of short duration.

Problem: No individual charging, short life. Installation using heavy cables.

Solution: The D250S is placed close to the battery and charges it perfectly with adaptation to the battery temperature.
